The New Birth Class 1
(The Indwelling Presence Of God)
The new birth is not the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not the new birth. Much confusion has come forward in this area and we need to rightly divide the word to see this clearly. I have seen people, who have been born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit all at once, but the norm is biblical pattern, which shows two distinct operations of the Spirit of God, but it is the same Holy Ghost. First the new birth then the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.
The New Birth : Born From Above
Reference to the new birth nobody had anything to do with the recreating of your Human spirit other than your father God.
Jesus answered Nicodemus you must be born-again to see the Kingdom of God or literally born from above
The water springing up into everlasting life (new birth) John 7:38-39
Galatians 5 The Fruit of the spirit refers to the recreated Human spirit being transformed by the Holy Spirit to the manifestation of fruit of the spirit. The nature of God (Zoe) supports the fruit of the spirit and that nature is in us now.
The washing and the regeneration refer to the new birth. We had to be washed in the blood and regenerated from death to life. The Renewing here is the teaching process the Holy Spirit continues in the believer’s life on a daily fellowship.
The disciples were not born-again until the day when Jesus breathed on them or more correctly breathed in them. They did not receive the baptism that day only the new birth.
Then Jesus instructed them to go top Jerusalem to wait for the Gift or the promise.
Had the Disciples been filled with the Holy Spirit when Jesus Breathed on them in John 20:22 I doubt He would have command them to go to Jerusalem to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. As stated before the disciples were not born-again until the day Jesus rose from the grave. Therefore they got the Holy Spirit in the new birth (the indwelling) when Jesus breathed in them.
When one is born-again He has the Holy Spirit in the indwelling and has become a child of God with a new nature. Just in the indwelling there is freedom from sin and guidance from the Holy Spirit in the believers life. The conscience of the man becomes a safe guide when the word is in his life.
