If Anyone has a claim to understanding the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues it would be the charismatic. At the same time the confusion that tongues has created has got to be cleared up. Moving into a generation of Christians who are not afraid of the Gifts and want the power of God should be our priority the first church had this in operation and I am of the opinion this present day church should also walk in the power of God. So I hope that you will enjoy the study on the subject and approach it in faith and see what God would share with you about the subject ,out of the Word, and not out of philosophy.
Speaking in tongues is not the bible evidence of the new birth, but, it is the Bible evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Salvation and the Holy Spirit: Two separate experiences.

Diversity in Gifts includes:
1. Tongues heard in a foreigner’s language spoken by someone who has no knowledge of that nation’s language. Acts 2:5-13
2. Tongues of interpretation and prophecy. 1Cor. 14: 26-29
These gifts operate only as the Holy Spirit wills not by our will. The only gift we operate on our own is the basics of edification. 1Cor 14:2
Comes By Laying on of Hands

Gentiles receive the Promise (no one touches them)
Acts 10:38-48, 11: 13-16 “fell upon them as upon us at the beginning” the upper room experience Acts 2: 1-4. So when He fell they were baptized differing from when Jesus breathed in them and said receive the Holy Spirit in John 20:22 (This was not the baptism)

Jesus had to be baptized in the Holy Spirit He was born alive to God with the fathers nature.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the Gate into all the power, gifts and calls of God.
Tongues is the base gift given to the church for edification up into all the other gifts and callings. The indwelling and the baptism after complete in a believers life never operates
